Recreational Paddlers Survey 2026

Paddle UK has commissioned independent research with DS Insight to better understand how people get into paddling, where they get information, how they make decisions about safety, and what types of advice and messages are most useful.

The findings will help to find out:

  • How people first get involved in paddlesport
  • Where new and recreational paddlers get their advice and information
  • How people prepare for a paddle
  • How they make decisions before and during their time on the water
  • What safety information people find useful helps people feel safer and more confident

The survey is for anyone who takes part in recreational paddling, whether that’s using a stand up paddleboard, kayak, canoe, sit-on-top kayak, or inflatable craft. It takes around 15 minutes to complete.
