Triathlon Ireland and Paddle NI are delighted to announce a joint junior event, Triathlon Meets Paddle – Ulster Hub, taking place at Moira Lakes on 27 September 2026, from 4pm to 6pm.
This collaborative session brings together two exciting sports, giving young people the opportunity to experience both paddlesport and triathlon in a supportive, fun and development‑focused environment.
The event will run as follows:
4pm–5pm: Paddle session (canoeing, kayaking and stand‑up paddleboarding)
5pm–6pm: Triathlon session
Young participants will be guided by Triathlon Ireland coaches Sam Cordner and Diane Cordner, alongside Paddle NI's Participation and Development Officer Mark Stephens who will lead the paddlesport element.
The session is open to juniors aged 10–17, with all ability levels welcome, from first‑time participants to those already developing in either sport. (Parents and carers are welcome to stay on site throughout the session if they wish).
What to Bring
To ensure participants are comfortable and prepared, we recommend bringing:
- Swim gear – wetsuit, trisuit or togs if you have it
- Swimsuit/shorts and T-shirt for underneath wetsuit (Wetsuit can be provided if you don't have one)
- Running gear
- Water shoes or old trainers you don't mind getting wet
- Water bottle
- Some snacks
- Warm clothes and towel for afterwards (separate from their running shoes)
Both organisations have opened booking for their junior members, and we look forward to welcoming young athletes from across Ulster to this unique cross‑sport experience.
